TAKS TEST TODAY!!

Just wanted to ask for some prayers this morning as Ali takes her Math TAKS test. She should just be starting it right around now. It is 9:30. So if you get time could you please stop and just say a quick little prayer asking God to help keep her focused and her mind on the test and not other things. She has worked really hard at school and with Manish, her tutor, the past 2 weeks.
THank you so much!!!!

Much Love to you all!!!

Ali I know you can do it and I am thinking and praying for continously today. You are not a quitter and you are so smart. I love you sweetie girl!

Iraan Jr High Girls Track Team...

Won District last night!!! Way to go Girls!!!

Ali I am very proud of you! You have ran your little tail end off girl and have jumped your little heart out and you make me proud! It also makes me sad because this was your last ever Jr. High Sports activity that you will participate in. Like Coach said, "You girls are now officially BRAVETTES!" You now move on to bigger and better things and more of life's challenges that will be along the way. I love you Ali Beth!!!

GOt a little Sentimental there, sorry. HA! I am very proud of my baby girl!
There have been lots of firsts and lasts these last couple of months and some of the hardest firsts are coming our way. God, please give me the Strength and the Wisdom to Raise a teenager daughter! I know not to pray for patience because God has shown me too many times how He answers that one! Ha!

Have a Blessed Day!

Peyton

Little Man Pate went to his first Speech Session yesterday. He did very well. His therapist is Sam. She is Really sweet! She said they played more than worked so he could get comfortable with her. They worked on his "F"s and how to shape his mouth and make air come out on his hand. SHe said he wasn't able to make the shape with his mouth but that it would come in time. Our job at home is to correctly pronounce a word that he says incorrectly to him and Stress that word so he sees our mouth and how it sounds and looks. He says shishes instead of Fish, so when he says that we have to say "OH FISHES! so that he hears that F sound or any other word he pronounces incorrectly. He has some short term goals and long term goals.

His Short Term Goals: This is what HE WILL be doing in 6 months

1. Produce /f/ in words with 70% accuracy and minimal cues
2. Will increase overall intelligibility to 70% with known context
3. Will tolerate transitions, new routines, and new environments with no cues for 30 min. sessions
4. Monitor language processing for multi spatial, temporal, and relational deficits through qualitive measures over time.
5. He will tolerate oral motor interventions in treatment and at home.

His Long Term Goals: THis is what he will achieve in 12 months

1. Age appropriate speech and language

He will start his OT THerapy for SI Dysfunction on April 30th. I realize we will be traveling some but I will do whatever I can to help him and I have such a loving family that everyone is learning and trying all these things right along with him to Help him out. I know it helps when you have a very good support system no matter what the case. Thank you Family and I mean ALL of you!!!!

I have been reading this book Called Raising a Sensory Smart Child

I have learned so much from reading this. It has really opened my eyes to reasons why Peyton does some of the things he does. I never really understood why he didn't like his teeth brushed. We have seriously been through 5 tubes of toothpaste to figure out what he liked. Dian told me that he brushes his teeth just fine when he is at her house and she uses the baby toothpaste. If you notice this toothpaste does not foam up. All the other toothpastes do! So after reading this book, all the foam was too much stimuation for him. He would just scream out!!! Now he will get his tooth brush and brush his teeth himself, no problem! But it has to be that toothpaste. I just wonder if it's doing any good on his teeth? Ha!
So that is one step forward right? We have to bring his toothbrush and different toothpastes to OT when he starts.

We have had several Melt downs this week and we have had LOTS of good days this week too! I dressed him Monday morning like always but he was still half asleep when I dressed him. We were on our way to day care and school when he realized he had on a collared shirt. He screamed and pulled on that shirt the whole way to school to drop Ali off and back to the house to get another shirt on. He doesn't like collars! But he wore a collared shirt to church a few weeks ago and it didn't bother him??? AS they say, his nerves must have been "organized" that day.
On Wed. he has cubbies at the Baptist Church which he enjoys going to. When I picked him up one the younger helpers told me he didn't want to leave the class room. So I went to get him and he was under the table screaming and crying. The Cubbies teacher told me that he got up in class and just got under the table and has been sitting there almost the entire time. I had to coax him out from under the table. If you don't know what is going on then someone walking by must think that I have the biggest BRat! I use to think that! I am learning that Everyone has sensory issues but there are some that just have them so intensified. You start to learn what is Typical behavior and what is not and then decide on how to handle the situation because there will be times that his behavior has nothing to do with his Sensory Disorder.

This will take time but I know that it's going to be ok.

Here is a picture taken on Sunday. He was so worn out! He was watching his Grasshopper.

Oh! I met with the Speech Teacher at the School on Monday and we are getting everything set up for him to start here in the Fall if not before then!

That's about all i have! Sorry to have posted so much! I have had so much going on lately. Have a great weekend!!!

Pain in the Butt......

No Pun intended. I have had to go to the clinic everyday this week to have this spot drained and packed. The antibiotics he put me on were not working so he had to put me on something stronger. It's defintely doing the trick and it's getting better. I still have to go in this weekend to change out the dressing but he seems to think that Monday might be my last day! Praise God! This has been crazy! I am just glad it didn't get any worse. Thanks to everyone that has called and emailed to check on me!

Updates Part One- Ali Beth

Ali is doing great! She is so ready for school to be out. She stays at school until 5 or 5:30 everyday and is worn out when she gets home. She has been going to tutoring on Mondays and Wed. for Math practice for the TAKS Test on April 7th but we decided it was too much and she was falling asleep at tutoring so we decided that the weekends would be better for this. Right before Spring Break the kids had to take the Reading Part of the TAKS. This year students have to pass the Reading AND Math Parts to go on to High School, Talk about stressing a kid out! IT stresses me out!! GEE! Anyways, we got the results back during Open House last week and Miss Ali Beth only missed one!!! She got commended Performance! Yay!!! I am so proud of her!

Last Friday IJH had their Track Meet here Iraan. ALi placed 5th in the long jump and her relay team placed 1st in the 400m relay and 800m relay.

Here are her medals

Good Job Ali Beth!

Two weekends ago Ali had a dance to go to. This is a picture of her and her friend Rachael.

She is really growing up and becoming quite the young lady. Makes momma sad!

Bug Bite + Bootie = Trip to ER

Last Wed. I bought Peyton a bug box. He has started bringing in lady bugs and worms so I thought a bug box would be fun for him, and I wouldn't have worms and bugs in strage places in the house. So, before Church Wed. mamaw and poppie came over and they helped Peyton fill his bug box. I have no idea what kind of bugs they were but they were black and had orange stripes on them. They were little so no harm in that right? WRONG!!!

At bedtime Peyton insisted on bringing the bug box to bed. I lay with Peyton at night to help him get to sleep so I just thought I would move the bug box after he went to sleep. Well I ended up going to sleep and waking up in the morning to find that some bugs had escaped from the box and I have a bite on my left buttock of all places. As the day went on it started getting really sore and to have a bite in that particular place makes it hard to sit so I thought that I was irritating it. Friday comes and by Friday night it is really sore! Stephen mashed it and put medicine on it and a lovely pink band aid with giraffes on it.

Today OMG! I couldn't sit or stand without it hurting so bad! It was throbbing and grown to the size of a golfball. It was hot and hard and I was hurting but I did not want to go bare my bootie to Dr. Garcia, how embarrasing! I know I have given birth but I don't see those people everyday, here in Iraan you are bound to see them in town. So tonight it got so bad that I sucked it up and a friend took me to the ER. The bite was a spider bite approx. 6 cm in diameter. Dr. Garcia lanced it and packed it and gave me some antibiotics and pain pills. I also got a tetnus shot. I guess I am glad that I went it. It feels much better now but that's because the pain pills have kicked in. After the numbing stuff wore off it was throbbing! So, it wasnt the little black bugs from the bug box afterall!

I need to sign off now. Darvocet kicking in and there is no telling what I will start typing.

Good Nite!!!

Sensory Integrated Disorder and Auditory Processing Defecit

This is what we found out after taking Peyton to his Speech and hearing evaluation last Friday. This makes so much sense to me after talking to the therapist and explains a lot of his behavior. He was awesome during his eval! The Therapist worked with him and asked him a lot of questions. Questions that would be asked in a school setting and she said he is VERY SMART and he is learning right now on a 4.5 year old level. Once she started going past the 4.5 year old level he started struggling. She said that he is ver bright and the fact that he knows what he does at this level and he isn't even 4 yet. Peyton will have to have Speech and OT for some time. We will go to West Texas Rehab once a week and also have to do things at home to help him.

After we got home and I researched more on it I just broke down. It broke my heart that I have been so frustrated with this child and my patience was wore thin on many many occasions. I am just glad to know that there is help for this and that he will be getting the help he needs and with our family and help from the Therapists he will be able to cope with everyday situations just like everybody else. I wonder how he feels and what goes on his little head. I love that boy more than anything! Right along with his sister! So, whatever we have to do do we will do. It's probably going to be a long road ahead of us but we can do it and it will be worth it. I will be keeping everyone up to date on Peyton's progress here on this blog.
Below is a link that you can check that explains what we are dealing with.

Do you hear that???

It is the sound of quiet. It is amazingly quiet here today. Peyton and Ali spent the night with Gma and Poppy in Sheffield last night. Stephen worked until 7 and I went to a Pampered Chef show at Jennifer's house and it was lots of fun! Good company, good food and good conversation. Most of the conversation was about our kids =) It is amazing how when you need a break from all the Choas and just need some alone time or a girls night just how much you miss your children and can't wait to see them the next day. It is noon and I am still in my pj's. I think the past 2 weeks of no sleep and a very busy schedule is catching up with me and I don't see any down time in the near future. So, I am doing laundry, mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms and kids rooms today and I might even get a nap in. I will go pick up the kids later this afternoon. They enjoy being out on the ranch. I think they secretly miss it, I know I Do at times. Did I mention how quiet it is right now? The only sound is the sound of my typing and the dryer.

Thursday we traveled to wink for the Jr. High Track meet. Ali did awesome and I am so proud of her! She ran the 400 m relay and 800 m relay. She is the last leg in the relay and that makes a momma proud! Especially since that is the event and position I ran in school! The jr. high girls and Jr. high boys both won the entire meet! Go IJHS!!! The next meet is here in IRaan on March 20. I forgot the camera so I will have to do better next time and get pictures.

Spring break is this next week. We don't have exciting plans really. I know that I will be working some insane hours early in the week and then we go to Angelo for Ortho appts and Peyton has his speech and hearing evaluation on Friday. I am curious to see how that goes. Also we are hoping that Ali only has a couple more months of having braces!!! I know she is BEYOND excited!

I guess I had better go and enjoy this time to get things done and rest!

A weekend of Firsts....

1. Ali taught Peyton how to ride his bike that he got for Christmas.
He has never been able to to Pedal ANYTHING!!! Way to go Sissy!!! He looks so cute
on it with his Dinosaur ( did you expect anything else?) helmet on and those short legs going as fast as they can! I will take pictures!

2. Peyton said his ABC's all the way through! He always leaves some letters out and then hums the rest but this weekend he said them ALL! yea!!!!

3. Peyton has never been one to sing songs so when he was watching his Baby can Read DVD he has started singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star AND the 2nd verse! I don't even know the 2nd verse!

4. He then told me he was very smart! Yes he is!!!

THese are things we have been working on for FOREVER and he has been so stubborn and just won't do a thing. I guess he has gotten bored with everything else that he decided it was time for something different.

Ali has her First Track meet this Thursday in WINK of all places. She has one event at the very beginning and then another at the very end..looks like it is going to be a long day! I must say, that I am very excited about it though!

34

Yesterday was my Birthday. 34 years old! It seems that once you hit 25 the years go by faster and faster. I am NOT having a hard time with 34, I had a hard time with turning 30. However, I can't say right now that I will have an easy time with 35! I had a really good day. Ali made me breakfast before work and school, I got taken to lunch and Dian and Herbie took us all out to dinner at Isabella's and she made me her yummy chocolate cake! I got a really nice watch from Dian and Herbie, a Tricolor cow hide rug from stephen, a very cute cross and FAMILY plaque from Lovie and Cautro, and some jewlery and picture frame from my momma and I got a really cute Coach Wristlet from my BFF Kari who lives in Houston. GOt lots of cards and texts wishing me a happy birthday! Thank You everyone for the Birthday Wishes!!!!

Proof that Peyton IS watching his "reading" DVD's. He recognizes 2 words and is bored and wants to move on to the Next DVD.

What A Day!!!!!

Today started off very early... 5:00 am early. Peyton and I went to Angelo for his pedi appt. Dr. Wehner just referred us to West Texas Rehab, so now we wait for them to call US for the appt. He thinks that there is nothing wrong with his hearing but just wants to make sure and then they will do a speech eval too.

Then we went to target to look for some throw pillows for the couch.. I got some Brown and cream Zebra print pillows for the couches from ebay a few weeks ago and I wanted to add a deep red pillow to the mix. I also got some curtains and a new rug for the kitchen.

We went to the Mall to look for Ali a dressy dress for the Quince she is going to in March-Praise God we found one, and of course she isn't happy with it =(

Looked for Track spikes EVERYWHERE! WHy I Didn't think of Academy first off is beyond me, but that place was the only place that had them and had the smallest size, a size 4! Yea!! So, we marked that off our list.

Had to drop off Rx and wait on them.

Got my oil changed and car washed then...

Went to HEB for groceries and FINALLY ate lunch at 3:00.

I am so tired and Peyton was a whirlwind today! Um, ok maybe whirlwind was being nice.. he was an F5 Tornado! Just wanted to update on his appt!

Good Night!

P.S. Peyton can recognize two words so far with his BABY CAN READ DVD's.. Elephant and eyes!

Out of the Mouth Of My Son!

Here is a little Funny for you that Peyton did last week..

Peyton has been picking up some Not so Nice words at day care from the older kids that come after school. Some of you reading this might be appalled and what I am going to say because of some "words" I use.. But I promise, you will see the funny side of it when I am done.

*** Disclaimer** There may be some words in here that might be offensive to others...

Let me set the Scene- Ali and Peyton are watching a movie in his room last weekend, Stephen and I are watching FireProof in the living room, BTW, that is a must see movie for all married couples, anyhoo, I hear Ali telling Peyton," That was not nice, we don't say those words." I think she repeated it several times and then I see her making her way into the living room to tell me just what My son had said..
"Mom, Peyton said, Oh My freakin Balls.." While picking my jaw up off the floor I said, " I will handle it when I hear him say it again." Nothing else said the rest of the night or the next day...

Sunday we are cleaning P's room and he says it! Not once, but 3 times!!! I told him how we don't talk like that, it's not nice and if you say it again there will be consequences.. So an hr later he was punished and He hasn't said it again..

So, Sunday evening- we are snuggling on the couch and he says, I love you, I say I love you too! He says I love you more and I say no, I love you more ( this is our little ritual we have) and he says, I love you T*ts!! Can I just say that I about lost it! From what he had said earlier in the weekend to this, All these things were going through my head like what are these kids saying and OMG I was floored! Stephen asked him if Mommy had some of these and he said Yes, and he said where are they? thinking he would point to my chest, He said In the Garage! We Laughed so hard!!! He was trying to say TENT!!!! I was relieved!! I told him he needed to start using better pronunciation or when he got to school the teachers would wonder what we taught our kids!!!

So I said all that to say this.... He told me the other day that he couldn't hear out of his right ear. He had wanted the Movie in the car to be turned up really loud, it was already very loud! He said he coudln't hear it. Stephen has noticed that he is turning his tv up in his room really loud and he says Huh? and What? a lot. His speech is also very hard to understand at times by me and others. So now I am wondering if these two things, Hearing and his speech are related. We have a Dr. appt tomorrow with his Pediatrician to see if there is an issue with his hearing and address his speech. I will keep you updated!

Gotta Get Back to Work!!!!

I am writing this as I lay in bed sick! Ugh! I hate being sick!! I am not real sure what I have but it includes a bad cough, sore throat, runny and stuffy nose and a horrible headache and neck pain. Ali is playing nurse and being so sweet! She made chocolate chip waffles this morning with bacon and coffee and has been taking care of Peyton while I sleep. So far I guess everyone has had a good day.. Stephen just took Peyton out to the golf course for a little while so I guess I will go back to sleep!

Lots of Love!!!!

Secret Sister, Reading and Track

I am so excited to have gotten some things from my secret sister yesterday!!

This is something that the ladies at the Church do in Sheffield and this year I decided to put my name in. This goes on for a year I think... I am so excited about the person that I got too!

Here are some of the gifts I received yesterday at work...

I got a really pretty necklace and earrings for an early b-day gift. They are my birthstone and I got a box of chocolates and a desk Calendar... I also got a really sweet card and book mark a week or 2 ago!

Another little thing that came yesterday was this...

Ok, So I might be a sucker for these infomercials but this really got my attention one morning. So I looked into it and ordered it up! If you haven't heard about this or haven't seen this on TV this program helps teach your baby of any age to read and since Peyton will be starting Pre-K in the fall I thought it might help! So, we started on it last night. He seemed to be into at first but then lost interest towards the end.. he cant' still for too long. I Thought Great! This isn't going to work but then I read the Parent's hadnbook and it has answers to this very problem! After church we worked on Flash cards and he really liked that! Everything however was an "H". THis morning we watched it on the way to school and when he had to get out of the car he started crying because he wasn't through "reading". The first month they are supposed to learn 20 or 30 words. I will keep everyone updated on his progress as we go through this.

Another new thing that is happening at the Langohr house is Ali doing track. Basketball is over and now on with track! This is her first time participating in this event. I have been informed that she will be doing the High Jump, Pole Vaulting and running either the 50 or 100 yard dash. That's my Girl!!! This ought to be a fun few months!!!

Why?

I know you are not ever supposed to ask God Why when something bad happens..
But Why did this precious little baby girl, who is 10 months old, have to get cancer? Why did Jesus take her home so soon?? My heart is breaking right now! I don't understand and I know we aren't supposed to understand these things.. I was reading a blog that I follow regulary and there was a prayer request on there to pray for Cora's family. Cora passed away on Feb. 7th or 8th from Cancer. The parents just took her in for repeated ear infections and then found this! Life can change on a dime and it's so important to remember those that you love. I hold my children a little bit tighter tonight and tell them over and over how much I love them. It just seems that here lately every time I see a prayer request it is about a baby who is sick or a young child. BReaks me heart! I can't even see the words as I type this.. I am so sad for this family. I am so glad that baby Cora isn't hurting anymore and she is resting in the arms of Jesus. Please keep this family in your prayers tonight and for the days to come.

I Wish the Wind Would Blow....

just a little bit more! Goodness! I think I just saw a small dog blow across the front porch! My 3 dogs are wind blown and stuck to the fence! Ok, so not really, but almost! I Think we are in for some storms this evening.. I love a good storm! Nothing severe, just some thunder and rain, Lord knows we need the rain.

Mom, if you read this, I know what you are thinking. She likes Storms?? Ha!

When I was younger, maybe around 7 or 8 when it would storm I would sneek into my sisters room and pull her out of bed, and when I say pull, I mean I literally had to pull her from her bed because she would hang on to the bed posts screaming, NO! I don't want to go to your bed! Seriously? how could a 3 or 4 year old protect me from the storms? Maybe I just liked the feeling of her being there or maybe I thought that if A tornado were to come then I would at least have someone with me when it swooped me up and took me off to Munchkin land...

If the wind is blowing like this in February I don't even want to know what it will do in March!

Where do the weekends go?

The weekends just go by too fast! By the time Monday gets here I am exhausted! ha!

This weekend we had to be quiet since stephen was working nights and sleeping during the day. Now, tell me, how easy is it to keep a three year old quiet? Not easy at all. Bless his heart, he just doesn't understand why? Ali and I took him to the Park on Sunday. Sister loaded him up in his wagon and I grabbed Camo to take for a walk and off we went. We hung out at the park and made our way around to Dinny the Dinosaur.. AKA Daisy.. That's what Peyton calls him. I can't believe this is our first time to visit Dinny! Peyton loved it! He can't wait to go back and see "Daisy". I have pictures, they were taken from my phone so I don't know what kind of quality they will be but I will load them and post them in a little while.

Here is Peyton in his wagon. As you can see he can't go anywhere without Spike!

Then of course there was the Super Bowl. I am not a big football fan and no plans to watch but Ali on the other hand was READY!! She was rootin for the Steelers so you can imagine the excitement around here when they won! I never thought I would give birth to someone that enjoyed football as much as she does! I know, How UnAmerican is it to not like football! Ok, So I like watching the Braves =).

TOnight ALi has a ball game- they lost but that's ok She had a good time. Her last game is next Monday against McCamey in McCamey.

Received some good news today. A friend of Mine and Stephen's, their son was going through some testing and PRaise God everything came back clear!!! Whew! Thank you Jesus!

I guess I need to go fix supper..

Is if Friday yet???

Oh How I love that Boy!!!

Growing up all we had in our family were girls, We just didn't have any boys in my family. Then came Jonah, whom God Brought into our lives almost 15 years ago. Thank you Jesus for Jonah! I am totally surprised that we didn't corrupt the poor kid, because you know, living with 3 girls could quite possibly do that to someone. We just really didn't know what to do with a boy! I don't think we still know to this day what to do with him. Just kidding Jonah!

In July of 2005 Stephen and I embarked on a journey that would forever change our lives. We headed to Houston to get us a baby. After almost 5 years of wishing and praying and hoping for a 2nd baby we decided to do IVF.

I just knew that I would be having a girl! I just KNEW it! But God had other plans, I would be having a boy. What would I Do with a boy??? I was absolutely terrified that I would do something to mess this baby up! I didn't know the first thing about boys! I don't think I ever will!

Little did I know that this baby boy that I was so afraid of would melt my heart and wrap me around HIS little finger! He was such a pleasant baby. Slept all night, hardly ever cried and was happy and fat! What else could a mom ask for? I think it was a ploy because once that pleasant little boy turned 18 months I think I said a million times, what did I do to deserve this? If I Could bottle up all his energy and put it in a bottle I would be rich! If I just had a tiny bit of his energy I could go for days! HE is so rough and loud and busy always into something, never a dull moment and Boy does this child have a temper! Can I blame the color of his hair on this one? My favorite times are when he is asleep. HA! No seriously, that is when he is still long enough that I can hold him and hug him and love on him and give him kisses, but the even better part is that he smiles when I do it, even when he is fast asleep.

He is a 3 year old boy that is Full of Life! He loves DInosaurs and Spider Man, flags, ranger rides and Spongebob, and he loves Golf like his daddy and D-Dad, loves being outside and one day wants to go hunt deer like his daddy. He is a very hard headed and stubborn little boy. I can't imagine my life without him in it. It would be very quite and boring.. He melts my heart and I love him with all that I have.

My mom reminded me this evening to treasure ALL these moments, the ones that make you want to pull out your hair and the ones that don't. These times go by so fast and one day there won't be any Spike's and Leggos and Cars laying around on the floor, you won't be his best friend anymore or the one that he wants to snuggle up with in bed and it's your hand he wants to hold because he is scared. Oh How I love that Boy!

He is a Blessing! FOR this CHild I prayed and God Answered my Prayers.

Long Time No Blog!

WOW! It's been over a month since I have been on here! I still had a Christmas background goin on. Life at work and home is very crazy right now. The kids are doing great! Ali has two more basketball games left of the year and then it is on to track. She has done so well this year in Basketball! I am very proud of her. She has gone from being scared of the ball to being pretty aggressive, she even made her first ever point a couple of weeks ago!! Proud momma moment. Peyton is enjoying going to Mrs. Linda's and playing with his Dinosaurs Spike and Kota. He keeps us very busy! Before Christmas I started on a weight loss program with a Clinic in Odessa under a Dr.'s care and I am happy to report that on my first weigh in on Jan. 19th I was 10 lbs lighter!!! WOO HOO!!! While under the care of this Dr. they do blood work at your first visit and come to find out I have low Thyroid levels so now I am on Thyroid meds.
We have all been well and I hope we all stay that way! Seems like everyone either has the Flu, Pnuemonia, the stomach bug or something else.. YIKES!!!

I got to see the most precious babies ever! I got to go help Crystal feed Hunter and Heath and let me just say, I could eat them up! Precious little baby boys!!! I can't wait to go see them again! Two little slices of Heaven right here on earth!

So I know I have been a bad blogger so I plan on staying up to date on the blog better than I have! I just hope I have something exciting and interesting to blog about..
